Product Description
Our timber wheels are hand-made in the time-honoured way of arc-shaped sections of wood
being laid up in overlaps around turned spokes to form a circle. The segments are brass
screwed and finished with timber dowelling. Far Eastern acacia wood, favoured for many years
as a source for budget priced helmsman's wheels, is now in irregular supply. Substitute hard
woods are now being used, but quality is variable. (Solid brass nave.)
Ship wheel is measured spoke to spoke.
