Product Description
Our nautical timber ship's wheels are hand-made in the time-honoured way of arc-shaped sections of wood being laid up in overlaps around turned spokes to form a circle. The segments are brass screwed and finished with timber dowelling. Far Eastern acacia wood, favoured for many years as a source for budget priced helmsman's wheels, is now in irregular supply. Substitute hard woods are now being used, but quality is variable. (Solid brass nave.)
Wheel measured spoke to spoke.
