The
H.M.S. Pandora was a 24 gun sixth rate built at
Deptford in 1779. She is best known for her voyage to Tahiti
to bring back Fletcher Christian and his band of Bounty
mutineers.
Plank-on-bulkhead construction uses laser cut wooden parts
and, unlike other Constructo kits, the hull is double-planked.
Several varieties of quality woods include basswood, walnut
and mahogany. Kit is laden with finely detailed
ornamentation and all the necessary fittings. Pre-finished
blocks, buckets, deadeyes, belaying pins and tackle are
boxwood. Stern decorations, figurehead, anchors, lifeboat,
ship's wheel, pumps and gunports have been precision cast in
metal. Lanterns, stanchions, rail wire and rings are brass.
Armament consists of four brass cannon, 10 brass
carronades on walnut carriages, plus cast metal swivel guns.
Cloth flag and sails, netting and four diameters of rigging
bring your model to life. Illustrated instruction manual with
step-by-step assembly instructions, full sized plans and
display board are also included.
