Revolutionary War 8-pounder Field Gun Model Metal Cannon Kit
Product Description
This mobile, double-trailed field cannon was one of the most important artillery pieces of the French and Indian War and the American Revolution. The large wheels attached to a field carriage allowed commanders to rapidly position the gun in response to ever-changing battlefield conditions.
Gunnery crews fired one of three types of ammunition: solid ball, primarily used to destroy forts and other cannon, and both grape shot and canister shot against advancing enemy troops. The field cannon had a flat trajectory that allowed the ball to “bounce” across the battlefield and plow through enemy troop formations. As a result, it inflicted heavy casualties.
Historically accurate and perfectly scaled.
Cleanly cast Britannia metal components.
