Here's the ship that challenged the
Cutty Sark to a race from
Sidney, Australia to London. The voyage took 73 days, and
Thermopylae lost the race, but earned her place in history as
one of the fastest of the English clippers.
Build an accurate model from Mantua's double
plank-on-bulkhead kit. All wooden parts are laser cut. Kit is
complete with limewood and walnut planking strips, walnut
masts, cotton rigging and silk screened flag. High quality
fittings of machine turned and photo-etched brass, copper,
and hardwoods are surprisingly plentiful for a kit this size.
Two full size sheets of plans are clearly drawn and easy to
follow.
